Cops on toes
As many as 19 strategic locations are identified to monitor the movement of suspicious persons and enforce traffic regulations.
The operation, supervised by halqa GOs and executed by SHOs in collaboration with an Emergency Response System (ERS) team, focused on ensuring public safety during this busy period.
With the city gearing up for both festive celebrations and an electoral event, the police have prioritised creating a secure environment for residents.
“A key focus of the drive was the identification and apprehension of suspicious elements. Police teams were deployed to monitor troublemakers and prevent any potential disturbances. During the operation, 550 vehicles were inspected, with the police checking for illegal activities such as smuggling, possession of unauthorised items and traffic violations”, said a senior police officer.
He said in a push for strict traffic enforcement, 94 traffic challans were issued for violations, including riding without helmets, triple riding, vehicles without number plates and use of illegal black films.
Additionally, 13 vehicles were impounded for lacking documentation. Special attention was also paid to curbing noise pollution, particularly from motorcycles with modified silencers and vehicles using illegal big horns.
“The police force is also working to ensure smooth traffic management, another critical concern during the festive season and elections. The enforcement aims to reduce the risk of accidents and ensure that citizens can travel freely and safely”, police officials said.
They further said the operation is part of a broader security initiative by the police to maintain peace.
