School Notes: Saloni achieves distinction
Jalandhar: Students of DAV College excelled in the BSc (Economics) Semester VI exam results declared by Guru Nanak Dev University. Saloni Kamboj scored 1,809 marks out of 2,400 (75.37%) and achieved a distinction. Suzal Singh scored 1,806 marks and also achieved a distinction. Principal Rajesh Kumar, Suresh Kumar Khurana, Head, PG Department of Economics, and other faculty members congratulated both students on their achievements. The principal said that various scholarship schemes, such as the Daulat Ram Durga Devi Economics Scholarship and the Prof. Gulshan Kumar Economics Scholarship, are available to support meritorious and needy students on the campus.
VAN MAHOTSAV HELD
A tree plantation drive was organised at Police DAV Public School under the guidance of Principal Rashmi Vij. Supervisor Cinny Malhotra graced the occasion. As many as 275 saplings were planted by the students and incharges of Eco Club, NCC, NSS, Bharat Scouts and Guides Units of the school, in and around the campus. These include Indian Rosewood, Indian Lilac, Wood Apple, Gulmohar and China Rose.
Rajat shines in BCom results
Students of Apeejay College of Fine Arts made a mark with their performance in GNDU examinations. The students of BCom Semester 6th bagged top positions and made their college proud. Rajat scored 1,687/2,100 marks and bagged the 6th position in exam. Diksha stood eighth by scoring 1,681 marks, Dyumna Aggarwal bagged 19th position by scoring 1,647 marks. Shivanshi Khanna bagged 25th position by scoring 1,638 marks. Principal Neerja Dhingra appreciated the efforts of Dr Monica Arora (HOD, Commerce), Dr Vandana Gautam and Dr Manisha Sharma for guiding the students and yielding excellent results.
Guided tours for freshers
Kanya Maha Vidyalaya organised guided tours for the new entrants. The programme was organised by the Department of Student Welfare. It was designed for acquainting the new entrants with the various innovative student-oriented programmes run by the college. New students were taken around the college in small groups and they were ably guided by the student representatives of student council during the college tour. The students were shown the Hall of Fame of KMV. They were also given a tour of different highly equipped laboratories, departments, KMV hostel, heritage building of KMV, world class library, health club, gymnasium, auditorium, playgrounds and botanical garden etc.
Seminar on startups
In a concerted effort to foster entrepreneurial spirit and innovation, Innocent Hearts Group of Institutions, Loharan branch, organised a seminar on ‘Start-up ecosystem in knowledge economy’. The event featured Ahsanul Haq, president of the Jalandhar Management Association, who shared his invaluable insights on the evolving landscape of startups in today’s knowledge-driven economy. Haq’s presentation delved into various crucial aspects, including funding strategies, the significance of mentorship, and the imperative of innovation for sustainable growth. Dr Anup Bowry, Chairman, Innocent Hearts Group, expressed gratitude to Haq for the session.
