School notes: KMV celebrates teacher’s day
Teacher’s Day was commemorated at Sanskriti KMV School. The event unfolded with a resplendent dance performance by the students. A poignant skit followed, encapsulating the essence of the teacher-student relationship, portraying the myriad sacrifices and relentless dedication of teachers in moulding young minds. The narrative struck a deep chord with everyone present, evoking both admiration and reflection. Students showcased their creative prowess through various craft activities. They meticulously crafted heartfelt cards, elegant bookmarks, delectable chocolate holders, and artistic pen stands, each creation a token of their gratitude and reverence for their educators. Principal Rachna Monga extolled the virtues of the teaching fraternity, expressing deep appreciation for their unwavering commitment and indefatigable efforts in nurturing future generations.
GNA University hosts hackathon
Jalandhar: GNA University organised a hackathon to shortlist teams for the prestigious Smart India Hackathon (SIH) 2024. The event was held on the theme of ‘Viksit Bharat’. The participants tackled a range of real-world problems presented by various ministries of the Government of India and public sector undertakings (PSUs). Dr CR Tripathy, Dean, School of Engineering, Design and Automation, said, “To ensure a fair and comprehensive evaluation, a jury comprising seven members and five judges with extensive industrial and academic experience were invited to assess the ideas.”
First Prakash Purb celebrated
Jalandhar: The first Prakash Purb of Guru Granth Sahib ji and Teacher’s Day were celebrated at Sant Baba Bhag Singh lnternational School, Khiala. A special assembly was conducted. It started with Shabad and was followed by students’ speech on Teacher’s Day. A tree plantation drive was also held. Dr J Minhas, Chairman, Sant Vatan Singh Lamberdar, Bhagwant Singh Minhas, Charitable Trust Damunda, Adampur, donated 335 plants. These plants were distributed among the students. The ceremony concluded with a motivational speech delivered by the Principal.
KVS National Sports Meet
Jalandhar: A five-day 53rd KVS National Sports Meet is underway at Lovely Professional University. On the fourth day, competitions were held for kho-kho, shooting and badminton. In U-17 and U-19 10m Open Sight Air Rifles for Boys, the gold medal was bagged by Ernakulum region. Raipur region bagged the gold in girls’ category. In the pre-quarter final matches of U-14 kho-kho, Kolkata, Gurugram, Lucknow and Dehradun teams defeated Bhopal, Varanasi, Guwahati and Ernakulum region.
Visit to Science City conducted
Jalandhar: Nearly 30 enthusiastic volunteers from the Eco Club under the NSS wing of Apeejay College of Fine Arts visited Science City, Kapurthala, to deepen their understanding of global environmental challenges and pledge their commitment to conservation. Guided by Dr Simkee Dev, Dean of the NSS wing and Eco Club, the students embarked on an educational journey, exploring the wonders of the Dinosaur Park and marvelling at nature’s beauty. The visit also featured two thought-provoking presentations—one detailing the causes of global warming and actionable measures to combat it, and the other explaining the origins of life on earth. Through these sessions, the students gained invaluable insights into the scientific roots of climate change, pollution and the urgent need for sustainable solutions. Principal Dr Neerja Dhingra lauded the initiative.
Excellence Awards for teachers
Jalandhar: CT Group of Institutions, Shahpur Campus, in collaboration with DEO Jalandhar, hosted the prestigious Dr Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan Excellence Awards. The awards celebrate teachers who have made a significant impact in advancing educational excellence. The ceremony attracted an impressive gathering of over 200 teachers and 25 Principals from various fields, including mathematics, science and English, highlighting the collective dedication to enhancing the quality of education. The event was graced by the presence of dignitaries including Charanjit Singh Channi, Chancellor of CT University and Chairman of CT Group of Institutions.
