Municipal Corporation Safai Karamchari Union staged a sit-in over the 13th pay commission for safai sevaks, sewermen and drivers and also demanded early Diwali salary.

Workers of all unions associated with the Safai Mazdoor Federation Punjab held a major protest outside the Municipal Corporation Commissioner’s office today. Commissioner Gautam Jain held a meeting with workers of all unions. Chairman of the Safai Karamchari Commission Punjab Chandan Grewal also joined the meeting and told the Commissioner about the demands of the employees.

The general secretary of the Safai Mazdoor Federation Punjab, Sunny Sahota, told the Commissioner that like the Municipal Corporation Amritsar, the money due for festivals should be given to the safai sevaks, sewermen and drivers of the Municipal Corporation.

Commissioner Gautam Jain gave assurance to the representatives of the union that soon like the Municipal Corporation Amritsar, the money due for festivals and holidays will be given to them and salaries will be given to all employees before Diwali.
