Regulator installed at Chitti Bein: Seechewal

Rajya Sabha MP Balbir Singh Seechewal today said that the work for the installation of a regulator at Simbli village in Hoshiarpur district, to release 200 cusecs of water in Chitti Bein, has been completed. The MP said the project was completed at a cost of Rs 1.19 crore, with which the Chitti Vein will now flow continuously uninterrupted.
With the aim of completing the remaining necessary processes associated with the project as soon as possible, Seechewal today held a meeting with the administrative officials, irrigation and drainage officials of Jalandhar, Hoshiarpur and Nawashahr districts.
Speaking at the meeting held at the circuit house in Jalandhar, Seechewal said the foundation stone of the regulator, set up with a cost of Rs 1.19 crore, was laid by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on May 8, 2023. The RS MP instructed officials to ensure that the work of the cleaning of a 3 km long drain, which will bring water from the regulator to the drain in a smooth manner, should be completed quickly, so that there is no problem in the flow of water.
He said continuous release of water in the Chitti Bein will not only help in maintaining the water level in the entire Doaba region but will also help in preventing diseases caused by the dirty water in the Bein. On the occasion, Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Amit Mahajan, SE GS Sandhu, XEN Babal Sharma, XEN Damandeep Singh, SDO Jaswinder Pal and Pawan Kumar were also present.
