Punjab Community Health Officers’ Association all set for rally in Jalandhar on July 6 against their pending demands

A few of the demands include increase in their existing salary by Rs 5000 and release of dues pending for last 5 years

Jalandhar, July 5

Talking to the press, president of Community Health Officers’ Association, Punjab, Dr Sunil Targotra said that they have completed preparations for the rally to be held in Jalandhar on July 6 against their pending demands. A large number of Community Health Officers (CHOs) from all the districts of Punjab will participate in the rally. 

Reiterating their demands, he said the Punjab government should increase their existing salary by Rs 5000 and release the dues pending for the last 5 years, provide health insurance to National Health Mission (NHM) employees, including permanent employees. He added that 3- and 5-year loyalty bonus should also be immediately released, and the new incentive performa issued by the department should be revoked at once.

The CHOs were told by political leaders that meetings were held with senior officials and government representatives several times regarding their demands, but not a single demand has been resolved till now, which forced them to choose this path. A letter, putting forth their demands, was also sent to Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann but there has been no hearing yet.

Deepshikha from Mohali district, Dr Preet Makhija and Narinder Singh from Ferozepur, Tarjinder Kaur from Rupnagar, Simranjit Kaur from Fatehgarh Sahib, Jasmine from Tarn Taran, Dr Balveer and Harpinder Kaur from Ludhiana, Ramanveer Kaur from Bathinda, Kuldeep Singh from Fazilka, Manjit Singh, Major Singh, Om Prakash Nandiwal and Balkaran Singh from Sri Muktsar sahib were also present there.

Additionally, Nisha Aggarwal from Sangrur, Davinder Singh from Mansa, Sanjeev Gadai, Dr Jatinder Pal Singh from Malerkotla, Sandeep Singh from Faridkot, Dr Vimukt from Pathankot, Dr Ravinder Kahlon, Suraj Prakash and Vikas Joel from Gurdaspur were also part of the media interaction.
