Prepare project report on widening of PAP flyover, NHAI officials told

Commuters have been facing inconvenience for the past three months as PAP Chowk from the Jalandhar side towards Amirtsar has been closed due to the wrong engineering design by the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI).
Commuters from the Jalandhar side, who wish to go to Amritsar, have an option to go via Rama Mandi Chowk passing through the Guru Nanakpura railway crossing, which is congested and often remains closed due to passage of trains.
Owing to the problems faced by residents and traffic jams at Guru Nanakpura and on the stretch between PAP and Rama Mandi intersections, Congress MLA from Jalandhar (Central) Rajinder Beri has given a 15-day ultimatum to the NHAI authorities to open the PAP Chowk from the city side and find a solution to the problem.
“I will hold a dharna along with my team outside the NHAI office if the authorities do not make suitable changes to ensure the smooth flow of traffic,” he said.
On Monday, DC Varinder Kumar Sharma asked NHAI officials to prepare a detailed project report (DPR) on the feasibility of widening the PAP railway overbridge (ROB) from the existing four-lane to six-lane.
