The Punjab State Election Commission has appointed Deepti Uppal, IAS, as the Election Observer for Kapurthala district ahead of the upcoming panchayat elections.

A review meeting regarding the election preparations was held at the District Administrative Complex, Kapurthala, on Thursday. The meeting was attended by Deputy Commissioner Amit Kumar Panchal, SSP Vatsala Gupta and other senior officials.

All Returning Officers participated in the meeting via video conference.

The Deputy Commissioner provided a detailed briefing to the Election Observer on the district administration’s comprehensive arrangements for conducting the elections. He assured that the administration is fully committed to ensuring a fair, transparent and peaceful election process.

Senior Superintendent of Police Vatsala Gupta apprised the Election Observer about security measures implemented by the district police to maintain law and order during the election.

For any complaints or issues related to the election, candidates or individuals can directly contact the Election Observer on 79867-26839. Deepti Uppal will be stationed at Geo Mess, ISTC, Kapurthala, during the election. It is noteworthy that 863 candidates are contesting for the position of sarpanch, and 2,705 candidates are in the fray for the position of panch. Election symbols have also been allocated to the candidates.
