Police issue 20 temporary licences for sale of crackers in Jalandhar
The Jalandhar Police Commissionerate, under the leadership of Police Commissioner Swapan Sharma, issued 20 temporary licences for the sale of firecrackers in the district in accordance with the Explosives Rules - 2008.
Providing further details, Commissioner Sharma said the licences were issued through a draw of lots. A total of 133 individuals had applied for temporary licences to sell firecrackers. Of this, four applications were rejected.
The draw of lots was held at Red Cross Bhawan here yesterday. It was conducted in the presence of officials from various departments, including the Deputy Commissioner’s office, Municipal Corporation and Fire Brigade. Out of the remaining 129 eligible applicants, 20 licenses were issued.
Sharma emphasised that all licence holders had been instructed to strictly adhere to safety protocols as mandated by the Supreme Court, the High Court and the Punjab Government.
“The Jalandhar Police Commissionerate will closely monitor the sale of firecrackers, with a focus on ensuring compliance with safety standards. Any violation, such as unauthorised sales or use of banned firecrackers, will invite strict action,” he said.
Sharma reiterated that the police were committed to maintaining a safe and regulated environment for the sale and use of firecrackers. Anyone found breaching safety guidelines would face legal consequences.
