With the festive season in full swing, the Jalandhar Commissionerate Police has ramped up security across the city to ensure public safety and smooth traffic management.

Commissioner of Police Swapan Sharma outlined a comprehensive security plan, with a special focus on managing the crowds and traffic expected during Karwa Chauth celebrations as well.

Under this plan, multiple police teams have been deployed under the supervision of gazetted officers (GOs), Station House Officers (SHOs), and police post in-charges. A total of 26 Emergency Response System (ERS) teams have been stationed at key locations across the city to maintain law and order.

Check-posts have been set up in high-traffic areas from 6am to 11pm, especially near popular markets and temples, to ensure the smooth movement and heightened security.

Senior officers are monitoring these check-points closely, while SHOs and local officers are overseeing patrolling efforts in both residential and commercial areas.

As part of the broader festive season security plan, police patrols have been intensified, particularly in the crowded market areas and busy streets. “With today’s Karwa Chauth festivities drawing larger-than-usual crowds, special efforts were being made to manage traffic congestion and ensure the safety of all citizens”, police officials said.

They reaffirmed the police’s commitment to provide a safe and secure environment throughout the festive period, urging residents to cooperate with them to maintain peace and order during the celebrations.
