Police dispose of 65kg of poppy husk, 3kg heroin
The Jalandhar Commissionerate Police led by Commissioner of Police Swapan Sharma disposed of huge quantities of drugs, including around 65.5kg of poppy husk and 3kg of heroin, seized from smugglers over a period of time.
The Commissioner of Police said in the war against drugs, the police had recovered a huge quantity of drugs by registering various cases against the drug peddlers. He said that under Section 52 A of the NDPS Act, the case property is destroyed by the drug disposal committee.
Swapan Sharma said that drug disposal committee destroyed the drug property at Green Planet Energy Private Ltd, village Bir, Nakodar, Jalandhar.
The Commissioner of Police said the drug property destroyed yesterday include 65.5kg of poppy husk, 3kg of heroin, tablets 345, capsules 665, injectible drugs 10, marijuana 12.7kg and Ice drug 100gm.
While reiterating the firm commitment of the Commissionerate Police to wipe out the drug menace from the district, CP Sharma said that a zero-tolerance policy is being adopted by the force against this heinous crime. He said anybody indulging in this crime against humanity would not be spared by the Commissionerate Police.
He further said that a strict vigil was being kept by the Commissionerate Police to check the supply of drugs on the one hand and eliminate it from roots on the other. He said that the main thrust is to ensure that Jalandhar is made free from this curse, adding that no stone is being left unturned for this noble cause and the efforts to eliminate this scourge are being made on a war footing.
