Police crack snatching, theft cases; stolen items recovered
The Jalandhar Commissionerate Police, led by Commissioner of Police Swapan Sharma, have resolved two cases within days, demonstrating their efficiency and commitment to public safety.
In the first case, the police arrested a snatcher within 24 hours after he snatched a handbag containing 70 gram of gold, two mobile phones and cash from a woman. Following the complaint, an FIR under relevant sections of the BNS was registered at Police Station Division No. 7. Acting promptly, the police identified the accused as Daniyal, a resident of Usmanpur village in Jalandhar.
The gold necklace and other items were recovered from his possession. Commissioner Swapan Sharma commended the police team for their quick action and said further investigations were ongoing.
In another operation, the police solved a theft case involving stolen electronics from a delivery vehicle belonging to Reliance Mall. The stolen items included an iPhone 16, a OnePlus Nord-4 and a TCL LCD screen. Based on the complaint, an FIR, under relevant sections of the BNS, was registered at the police station. Using human intelligence and scientific methods, accused Sonu Rai of Parashuram Nagar was arrested and the stolen items, including two mobile phones and the LED, were recovered.
Commissioner Sharma lauded the efforts of his team in resolving both cases promptly. He emphasised the department's commitment to ensuring safety and bringing offenders to justice. He said further investigations in both cases were ongoing and additional details would be shared as they emerged.
