Phagwara: fatal road accident and Activa scooter theft reported in separate incidents

Fatal accident near Vishal Mega Mart claims life of scooterist 

A scooterist was killed on the spot when an Activa, bearing registration number Punjab-09AD-4579, was hit from behind by a speeding canter truck near Vishal Mega Mart in the city last night. The deceased was identified as Tushar Singh, a resident of Staff Colony, Phagwara. The police have registered a case under sections 304A and 427 of the IPC against the unknown canter driver, who managed to escape, leaving the canter behind. The police have handed over the body to the family members after the post-mortem examination was conducted at the local civil hospital.

Two wheeler theft reported in a separate incident

An Activa scooter, bearing registration number Punjab-36 L-1063, was found stolen near a medical shop in Fish Market, Phagwara, last night.

The scooter owner, Gopi, a resident of Satnampura locality, told the police that he had gone to purchase fish after parking his Activa, but found it stolen when he returned. The police have registered a case under Section 379 of the IPC.
