Phagwara: The Nurmahal police have booked unidentified persons on the charge of stealing batteries from a mobile tower. Kuldeep Singh, a resident of SAS Nagar and legal head of Jio, told the police that unidentified persons stole batteries from a mobile tower of Jio company installed at Nurmahal town on the night of January 26. Investigating officer Amrik Lal said a case had been registered against unidentified persons. OC

5 nabbed with stolen bikes

Phagwara: The Lohian Khas police have arrested five persons for stealing motorcycles. Investigating officer (IO) Balwinder Singh said the suspects had been identified as Rinku, Sandeep, Rasal Singh, Kalu, alias Karan, and Gurpal Singh, alias Fauji, all residents of Bhikhi Wind town in Taran Tarn district. The IO said two stolen motorcycles were recovered from their possession. A case under Sections 303(2), 317(2) and 345(3) of the BNS had been registered against the suspects. OC

Woman, son held on assault charge

Phagwara: The Nakodar Sadar police have arrested a woman and her son on the charge of assaulting a person. Investigating officer (IO) Rajinder Singh said the suspects had been identified as Paramjit Kaur, a resident of Pandori Sekhan village, and her son Swaran Singh. Joginder Singh, a resident of the same village, told the police that the suspects attacked him with weapons on June 26. He suffered serious injuries in the attack. A case under was registered against the suspects. OC

Man arrested with illicit liquor

Phagwara: The Bilga police have arrested a person for selling illicit country-made liquor. The suspect has been identified as Harjinder Singh, a resident of Bhode village. Investigating officer Ashwani Kumar said 25 bottles of illicit liquor were recovered from his possession. A case under Sections 61, 1 and 14 of the Punjab Excise Act has been registered against the suspect. OC

One more held in murder case

Phagwara: The Shahkot police have arrested second suspect in a case of murder and criminal conspiracy. Station House Officer (SHO) Aman Saini said the suspect had been identified as Tirath Ram, a resident of Parjian Khurd village. The SHO said the suspect, along with his three accomplices, had murdered Lakhvir Singh, a resident of Parjian Khurd village, on June 30. The SHO said a case under Sections 302 (murder), 120-B (criminal conspiracy) and 34 (committing crime with common intention) of the IPC was registered against the suspects.
