Panchayat polls peaceful in Phagwara subdivision
Peaceful panchayat elections were witnessed in Phagwara subdivision on Tuesday.
Deputy Commissioner, Kapurthala, Amit Kumar Panchal, and Senior Superintendent of the Police (SSP) Vatsala Gupta today visited several polling booths in the entire district, including Phagwara, to ensure peaceful polling.
In Phagwara, SDM Jashanjit Singh and SP Phagwara Rupinder Kaur Bhatti, along with DSP Bharat Bhushan and tehsildars Baljinder Singh and Mandeep Singh, roamed in villages here to inspect and monitor the situation in order to maintain law and order and ensure transparent polling.
In a pleasant surprise, Phagwara MLA Balwinder Singh Dhaliwal of the Congress expressed gratitude to the Punjab Election Commission, police, civil administration, election staff and voters for ensuring smooth and peaceful conduct of the panchayat elections in the Phagwara constituency.
Dhaliwal emphasised that elections were a vital pillar of the democratic system and should be held without fear, pressure or inducement. He expressed satisfaction that the elections in the Phagwara constituency were completed in a peaceful atmosphere with enthusiastic participation of voters.
