One killed as truck hits bike

A bike rider died on the spot when a speeding truck hit his vehicle near a petrol pump at Sekhowal village on the Garhshankar-Anandpur Sahib road.

Balwinder Singh, a resident of Abipur village, falling under the Nalagarh police station in Solan district, told the police that he and his nephew Jaswinder Singh (23) were going to Garhshankar on their motorcycles for some personal work on Friday. He said Jaswinder was going ahead of him on his bike (bearing registration No. HP-12 M-7896). When they reached near a petrol pump on the Garhshankar-Anandpur Sahib road, a speeding truck hit his nephew’s motorcycle and sped away. He said Jaswinder died on the spot. The police registered a case against truck driver identified as Sukhwinder Singh of Ward No. 12, Kurali, on the basis of the statement of the victim’s uncle’s.
