Nursing students to continue stir till demands met
The protest continued today for the tenth day in front of the main gate of Gurseva Nursing College at Panam village located on the Garhshankar-Chandigarh main highway against the management in the student suicide case and against the alleged police inaction.
Regarding the matter of suicide and student demands, a separate meeting was held for three hours in the PWD rest house of Garshankar today. Among those present at the meeting were Tehsildar from civil administration, DSP Jaspreet Singh from police administration, Chairman Jang Singh Bahadur from college management and teachers along with their lawyer. On behalf of the protesting students, State Finance Secretary of Punjab Students Union Baljit Dharamkot and student leaders of the college Hadi Hasan Sheikh, Imtiaz, and Gurjot Kaur Rohit
were present.
Giving information in this regard, State Finance Secretary of Punjab Students Union Baljit Dharamkot and student leader Hadi Hasan Sheikh said the students were assured that their demands would be fulfilled by the administration after discussion.
The student leaders warned the district administration that if their demands were not assured to be met in the written format and meeting proceedings were not seriously implemented, the ongoing struggle would be intensified to a large extent. They said if it was not done by Monday, they would intensify their stir.
