Students of Gurseva Nursing College, located on the Garhshankar-Chandigarh road, staged a protest in front of the college gate at 9 am on Thursday, demanding to register a case against those responsible for the death of BSc first year student Aashiq and arrest them. In the afternoon, the angry students blocked the traffic by staging a sit-in on road.

Deputy Speaker Jai Kishan Singh Rouri, and DSP, Garhshankar, Jaspreet Kaur talked to the protesters in the presence of Baljeet Dharamkot, state secretary, Students Federation, Punjab, Pritpal Singh Haveli, Ropar, of National All-India Sikh Students Federation, and assured them of strict action against the culprits, after which the protesters ended the blockade after three and a half hours.

Father of the deceased student Mehboob Khan of Lafpuri, Punhana, District Nuh, told journalists that a few days ago, his son Aashiq and other students were expelled from the college. On Tuesday, after talking to the Principal and managing director, he left Aashiq in the college hostel.
