No resignation yet, Banga MLA Dr Sukhwinder Sukhi in wait-&-watch mode
Dr Sukhwinder S Sukhi, former Akali Dal MLA from the Banga Assembly seat, joined the Aam Aadmi Party about three weeks ago but has not yet decided whether to resign from the Vidhan Sabha.
Currently, in a wait-and-watch mode, Dr Sukhi says he is still consulting with people about his next steps. “I have met the Speaker of the Vidhan Sabha. I want more time to take the final call. I plan to keep the decision on hold for at least another month before making any move,” he said.
Regarding the petitions filed against him in the Vidhan Sabha seeking his disqualification for defecting from SAD to AAP, Dr Sukhi stated: “That is for the Speaker to decide. I am aware that some people have become active against me all of a sudden. I am a law-abiding citizen and will follow whatever is legally correct.”
Commenting on his decision to remain seated on the Opposition benches during the recent Vidhan Sabha session, Dr Sukhi noted: “Until I make a decision, I will sit on the same side. I am fulfilling my responsibilities as an MLA. I have developed a system to manage my role.”
The Banga legislator also mentioned his plans to bring significant changes to the town. “In a month, some major developments will be visible in Banga. I am expecting grants worth Rs 2.5 crore for schools and an additional Rs 50 lakh from the CM. Overall, I anticipate a total grant of Rs 8-10 crore for my Assembly seat,” he added optimistically.
