No farm fires in Jalandhar, Kapurthala

Since October 2, no stubble burning in Jalandhar and Kapurthala districts has been reported, thanks to the stringent awareness drives and challaning of the erring farmers.

Meanwhile, during the paddy harvest season, 25 farm fires have been reported in Kapurthala and Jalandhar — 16 reported in Kapurthala, 9 in Jalandhar. Most of Kapurthala farm fires have been reported from Kabirpur and Sultanpur Lodhi.

Challans were issued against nine farmers at Kapurthala and five in Jalandhar. At Kapurthala, red entries have been made in land records of five farmers while none have been made in Jalandhar so far. A farmer was also challaned Rs 50,000 in Jalandhar for not using Super SMS in his combine machine

As part of a campaign launched by the district administration to encourage farmers to practise proper management of crop residue, awareness camps were held in villages of Nakodar and Shahkot today.
