The senior state football championship that started at Lyallpur Khalsa College on Wednesday entered its second day today. The championship organised by the District Football Association was inaugurated by Jalandhar Cantt MLA Pargat Singh and joint secretary, College Governing Council, Jaspal Singh Waraich.

In the opening match of the championship, the Nawanshahr team defeated DFA Ropar 3-1. Karandeep was declared the best player of the game as he scored a hat-trick.

In the second match of the day, Jalandhar defeated Barnala 3-0. Gaurav Yashpal and Madhur were the goal scorers.

Today, matches were played between Patiala and Amritsar with Patiala winning the match. Tanveer Singh was declared the best player.

In the second match played between Kapurthala and Sangrur, Kapurthala won by 7-1.
