Nation producing 1.85 lakh MW more power than demand: MP

A programe titled “Bijli Mahotsav” under the Ujjwal Bharat Ujjwal Bhavishya -Power @2047 programme of the Ministry of Power organised jointly by the PSPCL, PSTCL & SJVN was held at Swami Sarvanand Giri Institute, Bajwara, here on Tuesday.
Union Minister of State for Commerce and Industry and MP Som Prakash was the chief guest while Dasuya MLA Advocate Karambir Singh Ghuman attended the event as the guest of honour.
Speaking on the occasion, the Union Minister shared his views on benefits received by people under various schemes and praised coordination between the Central and state government in execution of various central schemes. He said under the Amrit Ka Amrit Mahotsav programme, electricity festival is being celebrated across the country for a week and will conclude with the Prime Minister’s address. He said our power generation capacity has increased from 2,48,554 MW in 2014 to 4 lakh MW, which is 1,85,000 MW more than our demand. This is the reason why India is now exporting electricity to its neighbouring countries as well. Meanwhile, he paid homage to the martyrs of Kargil on Kargil Victory Day.
The Dasuya MLA also praised various beneficial schemes by the Centre and said the state government is committed to extend cooperation in schemes for people’s benefits.
To engage with the visitors and guests, various cultural programmes, nukkad nataks and screening of short films on the power sector was also organised.
