Punjab Minister for Horticulture, Freedom Fighters and Defence Welfare Mohinder Bhagat on Tuesday attended a mega Parent-Teacher Meeting (PTM) held at the Government Girls Senior Secondary School, Nehru Garden.

Addressing a gathering of parents and teachers, the minister praised the Punjab government’s revolutionary efforts to transform the state’s education system. Bhagat said that numerous initiatives have been taken to modernise educational institutions to ensure that students in government schools enjoy facilities on par with those offered by convent schools. He congratulated the Education Department for organising the district-level mega PTM, covering 1,389 government schools, where parents and teachers discussed strategies to secure the academic success of students.

“This unique initiative provides a valuable platform for parents and teachers to engage in meaningful discussions about students’ development, particularly regarding their studies,” Bhagat stated. He emphasised that parents visiting government schools now have the opportunity to witness the upgraded facilities provided to students. The event also gave parents an insight into the curriculum and children’s activities, along with a chance to put forth suggestions to enhance their performance.
