MC's drive to remove encroachment in Hoshiarpur
A special campaign was launched by the Municipal Corporation to remove the unauthorised encroachment done by shopkeepers and street vendors on the roads of the city.
During this, with the aim of smooth flow of traffic in the market and removal of encroachments, shopkeepers and street vendors were instructed to keep their goods inside the shops. Those who did not follow the instructions, their goods were confiscated and taken to the MC office. Later, representatives of the market association held a meeting with the Commissioner and Joint Commissioner in the Municipal Corporation office. During the meeting, the street vendors assured them that they would stay at the place which would be allotted to them for placing their goods and would not go beyond that.
MC Commissioner Dr Amandeep Kaur said in today's meeting, a joint committee was formed with the cooperation of market representatives and a Tehbazaari team. The Commissioner directed the committee to map the road after the market closed and allocate the place. After the place was allotted, the MC team would inspect this market from time to time so that encroachment does not happen again.
The drive was led by Joint Commissioner Sandeep Tiwari. Along with him, the Tehbazaari team comprising Gurmel Singh (superintendent), Amit Kumar (inspector) and other staff members patrolled the Peer Maddi Shah market.
