Man nabbed for robbing grain market worker
The Jalandhar Commissionerate Police, under the leadership of Commissioner Swapan Sharma, arrested a man in possession of a country-made firearm. The arrest comes following an investigation into a robbery case in August.
According to Commissioner Sharma, Surjit Thakur of Bhupinder Nagar, Maqsudan, lodged a complaint that on August 31, he was robbed by three persons while riding his scooter in Patel Nagar.
Thakur, who works at Sabji Mandi, Maqsudan, reported that the assailants threatened him with a pistol and robbed him of Rs 40,000.
An FIR was registered. During investigation, the police raided Ram Janki Nagar near Sheetal Nagar in Maqsudan where they apprehended one of the suspects Pankaj and recovered a .315-bore desi katta along with two rounds. Pankaj’s accomplice, identified as Ashu, remains at large.
