Man arrested with 1kg heroin, Rs 4 lakh drug money
The Jalandhar Commissionerate Police said they had busted an international drug racket with the arrest of one person and have seized one kg of heroin and Rs 4 lakh in drug money.
The Commissioner of Police, Swapan Sharma, said on a tip off, the police party had laid a trap near the Green Park Colony, near the bus stand in Jalandhar. He said personnel noticed a man with a bag coming from the Cool road side.
Sharma said panicked by the presence of a police party, the guy hurriedly tried to turn back.
Sharma said sceptical of his activities, the personnel stopped him for checking during which the narcotics and drug money were seized from him.
He said the personnel immediately arrested the accused identified as Shinda Singh alias Kala of Chak Bhangewala village in Ferozepur.
Sharma said an FIR under Sections 21C-61-85 of the NDPS Act was registered at the Division 6 police station, Jalandhar.
The Commissioner of Police said the accomplices of the accused were being identified, along with the individuals to whom he was supposed to supply such a large consignment of heroin.
He said it was also being investigated how the accused used to order heroin from Pakistan by drone.
Sharma said an FIR was already pending against the accused in Ferozepur district under the provisions of the NDPS Act.
