In a historic achievement, 20-year-old Rachel Gupta, a resident of Urban Estate in Jalandhar, has been crowned Miss Grand International (MGI) 2024. The event took place on October 25 at the MGI Headquarters in Bangkok, Thailand. Rachel’s win marks a landmark moment as she becomes the first Indian ever to claim the MGI Golden crown.

Miss Grand International, which boasts over five million followers globally, is recognized as one of the world’s leading beauty pageants. Rachel, a former Miss Super Talent of the World 2022, secured her place on the international stage by winning the Miss Grand India title at a national pageant held in August 2024 at Zee Studios in Jaipur.

Competing against participants from more than 70 countries, Rachel showcased remarkable poise and performance, consistently placing among the top contenders throughout the competition.

Her exceptional showing also earned her the Grand Pageants Choice Award 2024, adding another accolade to her list of achievements. With over a million followers on her Instagram, Rachel’s influence continues to grow, and she will now serve as the Global Ambassador for MGI, promoting peace and stability worldwide.

Talking to this correspondent, Tejasvi Minhas, a family member of Rachel’s, expressed her joy, noting that Rachel’s victory, which ties her with Lara Dutta for the most global pageant crowns won by an Indian, has made both the city and the country proud.

He said that Rachel’s homecoming, anticipated by them, her fans and supporters, is scheduled for later this year, promising a warm celebration in Jalandhar.
