Briefly: Limousine heading for wedding venue challaned
Police personnel from Dakoha Chowki that falls under the Rama Mandi police jurisdiction challaned a limousine, adorning with flowers and heading for a wedding venue. It was challaned for black-tinted windows. The vehicle was intercepted near Kaki Pind Gurdwara Sahib, where it was being taken to pick up the groom.
Sub-Inspector Narinder Mohan, in charge of the Dakoha outpost, led the checking operation. He confirmed that all windows of the limousine were covered with black film, which is prohibited. The car was stopped as it passed through the checkpoint and, upon inspection, no valid documents permitting the modification were presented.
At the time of the challan, only the driver was present in the car. “When questioned about the tinted windows, the driver could not provide a satisfactory explanation. The limousine was reportedly on its way to Jandu Singha when it was stopped, Mohan said, adding that as per the violation, the RTO would fine the owner of the limousine up to Rs 10,000.
The police emphasized that the action was taken in accordance with the law to ensure compliance with traffic and vehicle safety regulations.
3 arrested for farm fires
Phagwara: The Nakodar police have arrested three villagers for burning paddy stubble. The suspects had been identified as Kamal Nain Singh of Tahli village, Dalvir Singh of Bajuha Khurd village and Balvir Singh of Bopa Rai Kalan village. Cases had been registered against the suspects. The police have arrested Sukhdev Singh of Shamshabad village, Sucha Singh of Rajowal and Sukhwindar Singh of Uppal Khalsa village for burning paddy stubble fields. The police arrested Baldev Singh of Mulewal Bahmanna village for burning stubble. The Mehatpur police have also booked a villager Tarlochan Singh of Pandori Khas village.
One die, another hurt in mishaps
Hoshiarpur: One person was killed and another injured in road accidents on the Hoshiarpur-Phagwara road during the last 24 hours. The police have registered cases. Harpreet Kaur of Purana Prithvi Nagar, Jalandhar, told the police that her father was going towards Hoshiarpur from Phagwara on a bike. When he reached near a petrol pump located near Mehtiana, another bike rider hit him. Due to severe head injury, his father died. The police have registered a case against the driver Saurabh. In the second case, Rajat told the police that his father was returning from work. When he reached the Phagwara road, a vehicle hit him, leaving his father seriously injured. oc

The accused have been identified as Prashant Singh, a resident of Adarsh Colony, Piplanwala, and Sandeep Singh, a resident of Kamalpur.
