The Kapurthala district badminton championship was inaugurated by Phagwara SP Rupinder Kaur Bhatti on the Lovely Professional University campus on Friday.

Lakhanpal, executive dean of the university, was the guest of honour.

SP Bhatti encouraged the athletes to strive for excellence and uphold the spirit of fair play.

Kapurthala District Badminton Association president Rohit Jain and general secretary Malkiat Singh Ragbotra also addressed the function.

The final will be held on Sunday.
