Senior BJP leader Sukhminderpal Singh Grewal and media panellist Parminder Mehta have issued a sharp response to recent statements made by Canadian prime minister Justin Trudeau regarding an attack on a Hindu temple.

Talking to media, both Grewal and Mehta warned that if Trudeau does not take timely action against Khalistani elements, Canada’s economic situation could mirror that of Pakistan.

They accused Trudeau of jeopardising India-Canada relations for political gain, adding that Canadian citizens “will not forgive” him for damaging ties with India.

They asserted that Trudeau’s alleged support for extremist elements poses risk not only to his leadership but to Canada as a whole. The BJP leaders also condemned Gurpatwant Singh Pannun, a known Khalistani separatist, for his attempts to disrupt Hindu-Sikh unity in both Canada and India. They urged the Union Government to expedite international legal efforts to bring Pannun to justice in India.
