JE wins silver at World Powerlifting C'ship
Mohit Dugg, a junior engineer with PUDA and powerlifter, has again put Jalandhar on the global map by clinching a silver medal at the World Powerlifting Championship 2024. The championship was held in Chicago, the US, from November 14 to 17, featuring top athletes from 18 countries, including the US, Canada, Australia and England.
Competing in the highly competitive 83 kg weight category, Mohit secured his second place, finishing with an impressive 165 kg bench press. This achievement strengthens his claim for a spot in the world championship for the second consecutive year. In 2023, Mohit became the world champion, begging the gold medal in Manchester, England.
Starting his fitness journey in 2013, Mohit has since earned certifications as a personal trainer, supplementation coach and nutrition coach. He has been offering free online coaching to over 50 students, driven by his mission to build a healthier and stronger youth for the nation.
Mohit’s powerlifting journey began with a bronze medal at his debut competition in Ambala in December 2022. Since then, he has rapidly ascended the ranks, earning numerous accolades at the national and international levels.
Balancing his professional duties and athletic pursuits, Mohit also mentors aspiring athletes at his Fit Life Gym in Maqsudan. Reflecting on his success, he expressed gratitude to his parents and emphasized on the importance of incorporating physical activity into daily life. “Health and fitness are essential for everyone. I hope my journey inspires others to strive for excellence and prioritize their well-being”, he said.
