JCT workers to start stir from today
An indoor meeting of JCT workers was held at Phagwara under the leadership of Kamal Saroj, Shiv Sena leader, Ajay Kumar president, JCT Mill Worker Union/BMS, Sunil Panday (INTUC), Ravi Sidhu, president, INTUC and Tripta Sharma with regard to the payment of arrears to workers and reinstating the electricity and water supply at Thapar Colony, Phagwara.
During the meeting, the leaders stated that it had been over one year that workers of the JCT mill are struggling to get the pending arrears, allowances, bonuses, overtime among other payments from the mill owners but nothing had been done by the local administration.
The leaders further stated that deliberately, the electricity connection of Thapar Colony had been snapped to harass the workers so that they leave the colony without any protest. The leaders further alleged that the local administration had been supporting directors of JCT mill Sameer Thapar and Mukulika Sinha.
During the meeting, the leaders decided that workers would continue to make efforts to get their pending arrears from the mill management and an indefinite protest would be organised by the workers from tomorrow in front of JCT mill gate till their pending arrears were not given and also the electricity was not restored to the colony.
