A delegation of the JCT Mill Trade Union Congress, led by union president Dharmendra Kumar, met with Phagwara SP Rupinder Kaur Bhatti here on Friday.
The union informed the SP that around 700-800 labourers, employed with JCT Cotton Textile Mill, Phagwara, have not been paid their wages and overtime for the last six months. They said they got information that the mill owners are planning to secretly sell off the machinery, shutting down the mill permanently. If this happens, hundreds of families will face starvation, and workers will not receive their rightful dues.
