JCT employees meet SDM over cut in electricity supply
A delegation of residents from JCT Mill’s Thapar Colony today met Phagwara SDM Jashanjeet Singh after power supply to their colony was cut due to non-payment of electricity bills yesterday.
The disconnection of power supply left around 4,000 residents, including children, women, and the elderly, without electricity and water.
During the meeting, residents, including Ajay Yadav, Chander Mohan, Sujeet Kumar, Rajinder Rawat, Kuldeep Singh and Sharda Anand Singh, told the SDM that they had been working at JCT Mill for the past 25 years.
They said power supply to Thapar Colony was disconnected yesterday morning, causing inconvenience to residents. According to them, Powercom officials told them that power supply was cut due to non-payment of electricity bills.
The residents said the electricity bill was automatically deducted from their bank accounts after they receive their salaries. Therefore, they were not responsible for any outstanding dues.
Despite this, Powercom officials expressed their inability to restore the power supply.
The residents requested the SDM to provide them electricity through sub-meters. SDM Jashanjeet Singh assured the delegation that their concern would be taken up with the Punjab Government on a priority.
