Jalandhar police returns property worth Rs 13 crore in ‘Arpan Samaroh’ initiative
In a move to strengthen the police-public relations, the Jalandhar Commissionerate Police, led by Commissioner Swapan Sharma, organised the "Arpan Samaroh," an event aimed at returning seized properties to rightful owners.
The initiative saw the return of stolen, snatched or misplaced items, including 413 vehicles, 85 mobile phones, jewellery and household goods, collectively worth approximately Rs 13 crore. These properties were linked to 583 cases registered in Jalandhar over the past year.
An additional 100 smartphones, valued at Rs 20 lakh, were returned after being traced via the CEIR portal.
Several beneficiaries attended the event, expressing gratitude for the efficient and prompt action by the police. Among them, Baljeet Kaur, who recovered her stolen phone, praised the swift response from Police Station Division No 4. Similarly, Ravi Kumar thanked the police for recovering his stolen Activa, while Parmod Kumar and Hardeep Singh lauded the recovery of their cars, which were stolen months ago.
Commissioner Swapan Sharma highlighted that timely property recovery retains its value and reassures citizens of their safety. He expressed the department’s commitment to organising more such events in the future to foster trust and collaboration with the public.
