Jalandhar Police arrests five drug smugglers in separate raids
The Jalandhar Police have detained 5 people in a 24-hour blitz across all sub-divisions of Jalandhar. Police teams have recovered up to 150 narcotics pills, 50 gm heroin, and Rs 4,800 in drug money.
The accused have been identified as Palwinder Singh alias Sona from village Cheema, Kartarpur; Amardeep alias Harman from Mehatpur in Una; Vishal from Athaula in Jalandhar, Lambra and Balbir Singh alias Bira from SBS Nagar in Punjab.
SSP Rural, Jalandhar, Harkamal Preet Singh Khakh said special police teams were formed under SP Investigation Jasroop Kaur Bath to control street crime and drug smuggling from the grass root level.
The aforesaid arrests are the result of daily coordinated operations throughout all sub-divisions.
The SSP said the Kartarpur Police Station squad detained a teenager and seized 30 narcotics pills from his possession. Secondly, Mehatpur Police Station squad apprehended one man who recently fleeced Rs 2,000 from a fruit vendor. They have also arrested a thief targeting isolated houses to steal valuables. The police recovered an air conditioner from his possession.
Thirdly, Lambra Police detained another man with 110 narcotics pills and Rs 2,500 drug money.
Lastly, Phillaur Police apprehended one drug smuggler who was transporting heroin in his Tata Safari car. Upon verification, police recovered 50 g heroin and Rs 2,300 drug money and car from his possession.
Four FIRs were registered under the NDPs Act and relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) in this regard.

The apprehended accused will be produced in the local court and their remand will be taken to check their forward and background linkage and to explore their possible links in the other crime, the police said.
