Jalandhar: The NCC cadets of Apeejay School commemorated Kargil Vijay Diwas with great enthusiasm and respect, honouring the bravery and sacrifices of the Indian Armed Forces during the Kargil War in 1999. The event began with a solemn assembly where the Principal, staff members and the students paid tribute to the soldiers who fought valiantly for the nation. Students presented a variety of cultural programmes, including patriotic songs, dances, and skits that depicted the valor of our soldiers and the significance of Kargil Vijay Diwas. The performances were heartfelt and received loud applause from the audience. The event concluded with a moment of silence to honour the memory of the soldiers who had made the ultimate sacrifice for the nation.

Visit to Apahaj Ashram

NSS Unit of Montgomery Guru Nanak College of Education organised a visit to Prayas Special School and Apahaj Ashram. The objective of these visits was to identify the needs and problems of the community and to sensitise the would be teachers towards the issues related with members of the society and develop the feeling of empathy for them. During the visit, students donated fruits, other eatables and stationary goods to the needy students and people. Principal Dr Neelu Jhanji while speaking emphasised on the importance of social work and also spoke about the importance of an individual as an ideal part of the community at large. The entire event was coordinated by Dr.Kiran Walia and Gaganpreet Kaur.

Hockey event concludes

The 53rd Regional Sports Meet of the Chandigarh region for U-14 and U-17 boys’ and girls’ hockey concluded with a grand closing ceremony at the Hockey Astro Turf ground, BSF Campus Jalandhar. Hosted by PM SHRI K.V. No. 2 Jalandhar Cantt, the event was graced by chief guest Birender Guria, Assistant Commandant BSF, and Dr. Bihari Jha, a renowned Hindi writer and Rajbhasha official in BSF. Host Principal Ravinder Kumar welcomed the guests. KV No. 4 Jalandhar Cantt. won the U-17 category, defeating PM SHRI KV No. 1 RCF Hussainpur, while PM SHRI K.V. No.2 Jalandhar Cantt. secured the second runner-up spot. PM SHRI K.V. No.1 Hussainpur was selected for the national level in the U-14 category, and a mix team was selected from different schools in the U-17 Girls’ category after trials.

Patriotism soars high

DAV Institute of Engineering and Technology (DAVIET) celebrated Kargil Vijay Diwas with fervour during a student induction programme. The event featured Col Vinod Joshi as the chief guest. Col Joshi discussed the various episodes related to Kargil War and urged students to contribute to India’s greatness. He highlighted career opportunities in the Indian Armed Forces and announced Super 30 classes at DAVIET for Army entry preparation. Dr. Sanjeev Naval, Principal of DAVIET, shared the Kargil War’s history, praised the Armed forces, and encouraged patriotism and dedication. He paid tribute to martyrs by singing “Ae Mere Watan Ke Logon” and “Ye Mera India.”

Kargil Vijay Diwas celebrated

Seth Hukam Chand SD Public Senior Secondary School paid homage to the martyrs of Indian Armed Forces who sacrificed their lives and won the war at Kargil on July 26, 1999. A special assembly was conducted where students delivered a speech followed by poems to salute the real heroes of the nation. Students were also shown a movie on Kargil War. Principal Priyanka Sharma said patriotism is a social value which should be imbibed in students at the school level so that they become responsible citizens of nation.

Monsoon Fiesta and Teej

Guru Amar Dass Public School, Model Town, celebrated ‘Monsoon Fiesta’ and ‘Teej’ both in its senior and junior wing with great zeal and enthusiasm. The occasion started with the recitation of shabad depicting Saawan. It was followed by various performances showing rich culture, tradition and heritage of Punjab. Students performed folk songs, boliyan and folk dance giddha. Poems and speeches were also delivered by the students. Enchanting decoration to represent ‘Teej’ was done in the school campus and monsoon view was created for the junior wing students for them to enjoy the weather. The staff savoured the festive food of kheer maalpoore and pakoras. President Mohinderjit Singh and members of the managing committee, Principal Dr Aparana Mehta, vice principal Dr Sonika Singh gave their best wishes on Teej and encouraged the students to imbibe the Punjabi culture in them.

Handholding startups

Apeejay Institute of Management and Engineering Technical Campus, in collaboration with Startup Punjab, organised a national-level event titled ‘Handholding startups through funding and showcase’. The event was designed to bring together some of the most discerning investors with visionary startups to promote innovation and entrepreneurship and provide opportunities for collaborations and investments. Entries were invited from startups all across the country. Dr Rajesh Bagga, Director, welcomed all the investors, officials from Startup Punjab, Amarpal Singh Walia and Shyam Sunder, Joint Managers, and all the startups. Chitsimran Kaur, CMA, also delivered a session on the types of funding available for startups.

Simranjit gets 1st spot in DAV College

Hoshiarpur: DAV College principal Prof Vinay Kumar informed that in the results of BCA second semester of Panjab University, Simranjit Kaur secured the first position in the college, scoring 85.75 per cent marks. Prabhdeep Kaur and Sukhpreet Kaur both secured the second position with 85.25 per cent marks, while Mehak secured the third position with 85 per cent marks. OC/
