Jalandhar cops bust gang of arms smugglers, nab 17

In a major operation spanning over two weeks, the Jalandhar police led by Commissioner Swapan Sharma have busted an interstate cartel involved in the trade of illegal weapons.

Divulging details, Sharma said during the operation, the police nabbed 17 dreaded criminals involved in heinous crimes. They include criminals like Kannu Gujjar, a notorious gangster, and a close associate of Jaggu Bhagwanpuriya and others.

More than 38 criminal cases have been registered against the arrested criminals.

Sharma said the police had recovered a huge cache of drugs and weapons from these criminals. He said the recovery included 18 weapons, 66 cartridges and 1.1 kg of heroin. “This was the result of concerted efforts of the Commissionerate Police,” he said.
