Hockey Championship: Punjab, Haryana teams reach quarterfinals

Karnataka beat Kerala 6-1; match between Andhra Pradesh and Delhi ends in 5-5 tie

Punjab and Haryana teams reached the quarter finals of the 14th Hockey India Junior Men National Championship 2024, which is being organised by Hockey Punjab at Olympian Surjit Hockey Stadium here. Punjab defeated Mizoram with a margin of 7-1 and Haryana routed Rajasthan with a margin of 6-1. The teams from Andhra Pradesh and Delhi were tied at 5-5 while Karnataka beat Kerala 6-1.

In the first match, Navraj Singh scored two goals, Rohit Rana, Sunil Mann, Sahil and Amit Khasa scored one goal each for the Haryana team while one goal from Rajasthan was scored by Anurag. In the second match, Karnataka beat Kerala 6-1. For Karnataka, Aryan Uthappa scored two goals, Sunil scored two, Vivek Soni and Dhanush scored one goal each. The third match between Andhra Pradesh and Delhi ended with 5-5 tie. For Andhra Pradesh, Boney Prasath scored two goals, Kumar Mita scored two goals and Patan Asad scored one goal. While for Delhi, Harsh Sharma scored two goals, Bhanu scored two goals and Yuvraj Singh scored one goal.

In the fourth match, Punjab defeated Mizoram by 7-1. Ujwal Singh, Harshdeep Singh, Japneet Singh, Om Rajneesh Saini, Lavnur Singh, German Singh and Abhishek Gorkhi scored goals for the Punjab team while one goal was scored by Akash Yadav for Mizoram.
