Health Dept fails to check dengue cases, says Grewal
Phagwara, August 22
Punjab senior BJP leader Sukhminderpal Singh Grewal has criticised the Punjab Government for its failure to curb the spread of dengue due to the inefficiency of the Health Department.
Grewal said both the Health Department and the Local Bodies Department have failed to tackle the situation effectively. Despite the fact that the rising cases of dengue being reported in media, especially in urban areas where water accumulation remains a persistent issue, the Punjab Government has taken no significant action.
He said despite the ongoing monsoon season, neither the Health Department nor the Local Bodies Department has made any preparations in advance to address the stagnant water issue, leaving the state’s public healthcare system in disarray.
Grewal criticised the government for not taking proactive measures during the monsoon to ensure proper drainage of rainwater, which has worsened the health crisis. Taking a dig at the Punjab Government’s much-touted “Aam Aadmi Clinics”, Khanna said that despite these clinics, dengue cases are rising across the state.
The BJP leader alleged that the Punjab Government is misusing the funds allocated under the National Rural Health Mission (NRHM), leading to a collapse of healthcare services, particularly in rural areas.
