Gang of robbers busted, three arrested with weapons

The Jalandhar Commissionerate Police have busted a gang involved in a robbery by arresting three of its members and seized country-made weapons from their possession.

According to Commissioner Swapan Sharma, the accused entered a shop and assaulted a shop worker, threatening him with deadly weapons, including a khanda (traditional sword) and a country-made pistol.

The incident led to the registration of an FIR on October 4 under the BNS and the Arms Act.

The arrested individuals have been identified as Karan Yadav, a native of Bihar now residing in Mubarakpur Shekhan, Gurpartap Singh from Punjabi Bagh in Jalandhar, and Ritekesh Kumar, also from Bihar, currently residing in Gadaipur here.

The police recovered a country-made pistol with a magazine, two khandas and a scooter bearing the registration number PB08-EQ-8067 from the accused.

Karan Yadav is reportedly involved in four previous cases, while Gurpartap Singh has one case against him. No criminal history has been traced for Ritekesh Kumar.

Commissioner Sharma stated that the investigation is ongoing.
