Form district cow protection cell: Gau Insaaf Morcha
After the tragic death of 23 cows in a Phagwara cowshed last week, members of the Gau Insaaf Morcha, led by Yogesh Prabhakar and Deepak Bhardwaj, along with local religious leaders, submitted a memorandum to SDM Phagwara, Jashanjit Singh, on Monday.
The memorandum, addressed to the Punjab Chief Minister, Bhagwant Mann outlines their demands for the wellbeing of cows in the state. Key demands include a complete ban on cow slaughter, the declaration of cows as "Rajya Gau Mata" in the state and "Rashtriya Gau Mata" by the Union Government and the application of Section 302 for those who slaughter cows. They also called for the arrest of those responsible for cow slaughter, along with the seizure of their properties and weapons.
The memorandum requests monthly transparency of funds collected under Cow Cess, the allocation of allowances to gaushalas and NGOs and the formation of a “cow protection cell” at the district level. They advocate for the construction of gaushalas at temples, harsher penalties for cow slaughter, a ban on Holstein Friesein injections and the introduction of Gau Ambulances, among other things.
