Foreign student commits suicide
Phagwara: Mustafa Mohammad, a student of Lovely Professional University (LPU) hailing from Somalia, reportedly committed suicide by hanging himself in the washroom of his paying guest accommodation near the LPU in the nearby Chiherru village on Sunday. While confirming the incident, Satnampura SHO Usha Rani said the exact cause of suicide could not be ascertained yet. Stress might be the cause behind the extreme step. The police have registered a case and sent the body for autopsy. OC
Migrant run over by train
Phagwara: A migrant labourer from Bihar, identified as Ram Dularey, was run over by a goods train near the Phagwara railway station on Tuesday. Government Railway Police (GRP) in-charge Gurbheij Singh said it could not be ascertained yet whether it was a case of suicide or accidental death. However, the GRP has registered a case and sent the body to the local Civil Hospital for autopsy. OC
Bike stolen from dental clinic
Phagwara: A Splendor motorcycle (PB-32U-2001) belonging to carpenter Amarjit Singh, a resident of Mazari village, was found missing near Deepak Cold Drinks, Guru Hargobind Nagar, on Wednesday evening. The carpenter was working in a dental clinic, but found his bike missing when he returned after completing his job. City SHO Onkar Singh Brar rushed to the spot. The police have registered a case. OC
