Deputy Commissioner-cum-District Election Officer Komal Mittal said the arrangements had been made by the district administration for the byelection of the Chabbewal Assembly constituency so that the voting process can be completed peacefully on November 20.

He said polling parties would leave for their stations in the local Rayat-Bahra Group of Institutes on November 19. A flag march was taken out in Chabbewal in the presence of Deputy Commissioner Komal Mittal, SSP Surendra Lamba. Tthe DC said the administration was committed to conducting the voting in a completely transparent and fair manner.

Lamba said more than 1,500 police personnel had been deployed in the constituency. He said liquor shops would remain closed from 6 pm in the constituency. Mittal said as per instructions issued by the Election Commission, the campaign for the byelection eas stopped on Monday.

Political representatives coming from outside areas will have to leave the constituency. He said on Wednesday, holiday had been declared in government offices/boards/corporations/educational institutions located in district, including local holiday under the Negotiable Instruments Act-1881.
