Five guarantees by AAP for Phagwara
The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has launched its election campaign for the Phagwara Municipal Corporation elections. Punjab party president Aman Arora announced five major guarantees for the development of Phagwara and said once the party comes to power in the municipal corporation, these promises will be fulfilled on a priority basis.
Arora visited Phagwara to launch the party's campaign for the municipal elections. He was accompanied by AAP MLA Jasbir Gill, Sunny Ahulwalia, Lok Sabha in-charge Harinder Bakshi .
Addressing a press conference , he unveiled five guarantees for the people of Phagwara. The press conference was attended by senior party leaders, officials and many councillor candidates.
Highlighting the importance of these guarantees, Aman Arora said these guarantees are not just promises, but commitments to the people. He assured that as soon as AAP's Mayor assumes office, work on fulfilling these guarantees will begin. While local governments are elected for five years, AAP will strive to fulfil all these promises within just two years.
When asked about the announcement of AAP in 2022 to make Phagwara a district, Arora said all promises must be fulfilled. When his attention was drawn towards the dissidence of a transgender Mahno Mahant, who was denied party ticket after promises and now is contesting as Independent candidate, he said candidates were selected strictly on merits by the screening committee. He, however, agreed for uplift of the transgenders in society.
Arora also highlighted AAP's track record of fulfilling electoral promises in Delhi and Punjab and claimed that there is great enthusiasm among the people of Phagwara for the party. He said people want AAP’s mayor to be elected. Given the overwhelming support.

Five Guarantees for Phagwara
50 electric buses with charging stations
To combat rising pollution and improve public transportation, the party has guaranteed the launch of 50 electric buses across the city, supported by modern charging stations. Arora stated that like other growing cities, Phagwara too needs solutions for pollution and public transport. Electric buses will be operated, and local bus depots and charging stations will be set up for this purpose.
2. Baba Gadhia Stadium to be upgraded
Arora emphasized that to encourage youth participation in sports and promote the sports culture, Baba Gadhia Stadium will be upgraded to state-level standards. For this, the municipal corporation will receive separate financial assistance from the government.
Gurdwara Sukhchain Road to be heritage route
Addressing the religious sentiments of the local people, Aman Arora announced that Gurudwara Sukhchain is a renowned religious site with deep emotional connect among the people. After AAP’s mayor comes to power, the beautification of Gurudwara Sukhchain Road will be undertaken and it will be declared a heritage route.
₹50 Cr STP
To address the city's sewage problems and blockages, Arora announced the establishment of an STP (Sewage Treatment Plant) at a cost of ₹50 crore. The capacity of the plant will also be enhanced in line with future requirements.
Commercialisation of Market Road
Keeping the interests of small and large shopkeepers in mind, the party promised that the commercialisation of Market Road will be conducted in a legal and transparent manner.
