Farmers to block NH at Phagwara from today
Announcements are being made outside the grain markets, asking the farmers to come to Phagwara and join farmers’ protest on October 21.
The farmers under the banner of the BKU (Doaba) and BKU (Ekta Sidhupur) announced to launch an indefinite blockade of the national highway at Phagwara from Monday. No lifting has started even after the procurement began on October 1. This has irked farmers. They have been expressing anger against the government for not paying heed towards their demands.
BKU (Doaba) president Manjit Singh Rai recently held a press conference in which he announced that the farmers would start an indefinite dharna at Phagwara in front of the sugar mill from October 21 at 10 am.
In a video shared by the farmer unions, the announcement was being made through a loudspeaker outside a grain market in which support has been sought from every farmer. “Apne tractor laike Dhanduar mandi ikathe ho jaao (Bring your tractors to Dhanduar mandi in Phagwara from where the protest will start),” the announcement heard.
