An interactive session led by Commissioner of Police Swapan Sharma under the Sahyog project concluded in Jalandhar Cantt. Attended by over 350 participants, including representatives from various Ward/Mohalla Committees, newly appointed sarpanches and panchayat members, the session provided a platform for the public to voice their concerns on pressing local issues.

Participants raised concerns about traffic congestion at major junctions such as Rama Mandi Chowk, BSF Chowk, Deep Nagar and Cantt Bazaar. Residents called for immediate action to address the severe bottlenecks, prompting CP-Jalandhar to assure them that alternative routes and traffic diversions were being planned to ease the situation.

Eve-teasing near schools was another major issue brought to light by the Sarpanch of Jamsher Khas, who reported disturbances caused by boys loitering around school premises. The Commissioner emphasised that such behaviour would not be tolerated and assured them that ERS vehicles would patrol school areas to ensure student safety.

Amid the concerns, attendees also praised the police for their promptness and initiatives. One participant expressed gratitude for learning about the Cyber Crime helpline number 1930 and details of the ACP Cantt office. Another recounted how an ERS vehicle reached him within minutes of dialling the emergency helpline 112, applauding the police for their swift response.

The session concluded with the CP Jalandhar reiterating the police department’s commitment to resolving public grievances and strengthening trust between law enforcement and the community.
