Ensure welfare schemes reach the needy, officials told

Divisional Commissioner of Jalandhar Pradeep Kumar Sabharwal emphasised that the benefits of the Punjab Government’s welfare schemes must reach every eligible person. He directed officials to ensure that no deserving individual was left out. He was reviewing development works and government programmes during a meeting with the Kapurthala administration today.

The meeting, held at the District Administrative Complex, was chaired by Commissioner Sabharwal with Deputy Commissioner Amit Kumar Panchal and other senior officials in attendance. The Commissioner stressed the importance of field visits by officials to address public grievances promptly and effectively.

Highlighting key initiatives of the government under Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, Sabharwal instructed officials to maximise public outreach for welfare programmes such as pensions, subsidies on agricultural machinery, the School of Eminence initiative and healthcare services through Aam Aadmi Clinics.

He also reviewed the status of basic amenities like water supply, sanitation, streetlights and roads in the urban areas of Kapurthala and Phagwara. Sabharwal urged the officials to accelerate the resolution of these issues to improve the quality of life for residents.

In the rural sector, the Commissioner called for the launch of more ‘Sarkar Tuhade Dwaar’ (Government at Your Doorstep) camps to provide essential services to villagers near their homes. He also discussed ongoing development projects focusing on water conservation and waste management.

Sabharwal underscored the need to raise awareness about groundwater preservation and motivate residents to adopt sustainable water practices.

Panchal briefed the Commissioner on various schemes and projects underway in the district, assuring that the administration was committed to ensuring the welfare of all citizens.

Earlier, Sabharwal was welcomed by Panchal and Kapurthala Municipal Corporation Commissioner Anupam Kaler. A ceremonial Guard of Honour was also presented by the Punjab Police.
