Eight couples tie knot during mass marriage ceremony
A mass marriage ceremony for eight couples from underprivileged families was organised by Sarv Naujawan Sabha and Sarv Naujawan Welfare Society with the support of Chardikala Sikh Organisation, UK, here on Sunday.
The ceremony took place at Gurdwara Singh Sabha, Model Town, as part of the Sabha’s 34th annual event.
The marriage rituals were conducted in the presence of the Sri Guru Granth Sahib ji.
Several prominent personalities from across Punjab attended the ceremony to bless the newlyweds, including former Union minister Som Prakash and his wife Anita Kainth, Dasuya MLA Karambir Singh Ghumman, Phagwara MLA Balwinder Singh Dhaliwal, former National SC Commission Chairman Vijay Sampla, industrialist KK Sardana, AAP leader Joginder Singh Mann and Phagwara Market Committee Chairman Tavinder Ram.
ADC, Phagwara, Anupam Kaler, also graced the event. Spiritual leaders such as Sant Gurcharan Singh Nirmal Kutia Wale Pandwa and Sai Pappal Shah of Bharomajara also blessed the couples. NRIs including Surinder Mahe from the USA, Harjinder Kumar Kanda from France, Bipin Chumber from the USA, Gurdev Singh Banning from the UK, and Palwinder Kaur Bhogal from Belgium added to the event’s significance with their presence.
The newlyweds were presented with marriage certificates, gifts, jewellery and essential household items.
