Duplicate Harpic seized, one held
Phagwara: The police have arrested a shopkeeper identified as Deepak Sachdeva, a resident of Nangal Kherra village, under Section 63 of the Copyright Act on the charges of selling duplicate Harpic. The police recovered 258 bottles of duplicate Harpic from Sachdeva's shop and initiated probe into the matter.
Two booked for fraud
Phagwara: On a complaint lodged by an Onkar Nagar resident Shiv Nandon, the police have registered a case against a couple on the charges of duping the complainant of Rs 12,39,490 on the pretext of sending him abroad. The victim told the police that the suspects, identified as Amritpal Singh Lalka and his wife Kuldip Kaur, took the amount for sending him abroad. He said the duo neither sent him abroad nor returned his money despite repeated requests. No arrest has been made till now in this connection.
Gold chain snatched
Phagwara: Two unidentified masked motorcycle-borne youths snatched a gold chain from a woman identified as Paramjit Kaur at Scheme No. 3 in Phagwara on Thursday. The snatchers managed to flee after committing the crime. The police have registered a case under in this regard. No arrest has been made so far.
Man assaulted, four booked
Phagwara: Four youths reportedly attacked and injured a Kherra Road resident Ashu Mishra on Thursday night. The injured, who admitted to the local civil hospital, identified the youths as Puran, Bhupinder, Kaku and Rahul, all residents of Kherra Road. Personal enmity was the cause behind the attack, the police said. A case under was registered against the four suspects who were still at large.
Man booked for torturing wife
Phagwara: On a complaint lodged by Seema Devi, a resident of Dharamkot in Phagwara, the police have registered a case against her husband identified as Amritpal Lalka, a resident of Khanna, on the charges of torturing her physically and mentally and even expelling her along with their one-month-old child from the house. The victim told the police that her husband was demanding more dowry even after her parents had given him Rs 9 lakh. The police are investigating the matter. No arrest has been made so far.
3 drug peddlers arrested
Hoshiarpur: The police have arrested three peddlers from different places and recovered drugs from them. According to information, the police arrested two suspects hidden in bushes near Dhobi Ghat and recovered 174 grams of narcotic powder from them. The arrested suspects were identified as Kamaljit Singh of Jagatpura and Sanjay Kumar of Sheesh Mahal Bazaar. In the second incident, the Hariana police arrested Sukhveer Singh, alias Kala, of Kothe village and recovered 61 grams of narcotic powder from him.
